Rector's Background & Credentials

The rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, of which St. John's Internet Church is an online ministry, is the Right Reverend Dr. +Everett A. Brown, Ph.D.  Bishop Everett was ordained and consecrated into the Apostolic Succession as bishop by The Most Reverend +Mark Camp, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Christ the Good Shepherd on August 20, 2005. He served as Bishop Suffragan of the Archdiocese of Christ the King until June 2, 2007.  He is now retired.

Bishop Everett was ordained into the Apostolic Succession as a priest in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (CEEC), Diocese of St. Cuthbert, by The Right Reverend Dr. Robert H. Hoyt, Jr. on May 6, 2000, at a special Ordination Service at Crossroads Episcopal Church in Sparta, Tennessee. Bishop Hoyt is Bishop of the Diocese of St. Cuthbert. The Most Reverend Russ McClanahan is Presiding Bishop of the CEEC. The Most Reverend Paul Wayne Boosahda is Archbishop of the Province of the USA.

After serving as a priest and Celebrant for several months  during the formation of a mission Church of The Diocese of Christ the King, Fr. Everett transferred from the Diocese of St. Cuthbert to the Diocese of Christ the King in August, 2004. He was named Archdeacon of the Diocese on December 2, 2004. The Most Reverend Mark S. Camp, CJ, was then Bishop of the Diocese and is now Archbishop of the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese is in the Anglican Province of Christ the Good Shepherd which is an independent Anglican Province.. The Most Reverend +Mark Camp was elected Archbishop of the Province effective June 10, 2005.   On the 19th of June, 2005, Archdeacon Everett was named Suffragan Bishop-Elect for the Diocese of Christ the King by Archbishop +Mark Camp. 

 Bishop +Everett and his wife Sandra were married in August, 1958.  They have two sons and four grandchildren.

 Before being ordained into the Apostolic Succession as a priest in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, Bishop Everett served as a part time Licensed Local Pastor in the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church where he was pastor of Sand Rock United Methodist Church for three years, pastor of Walker's Chapel UMC for one year, and associate pastor of Gaylesville UMC for three years.  He spent one year as assistant to the rector at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (Episcopal Church USA) in Jacksonville, Alabama, while in the vocational clarification process for the priesthood. He was also a Licensed Eucharistic Minister at Church of the Resurrection Episcopal Church in Gadsden, Alabama. He served as a lay speaker at St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus, Georgia, for several years.

Prior to his ordination into the Apostolic Succession with the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches Bishop Everett entered candidacy and received Holy Orders as an independent ministerial priest with other candidates in a traditional Christian Ordination Service at The Cathedral of Jesus of Nazareth on February 28, 1999.

Bishop Everett is also known by many as Dr. Brown, a Clinical Psychologist.  He retired from Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital in Rome, Georgia, in September, 2003, where he worked with the severely mentally ill and with persons with dual diagnoses -- persons who had both substance abuse and psychiatric problems. He developed and instituted the first public treatment program for the dually diagnosed in the state of Georgia. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Examiners and was a Board Certified Forensic Examiner before retiring from that organization. He was awarded the public sector "Psychologist of the Year" award by the Georgia Psychological Association in 1990 for his innovative work with patients. He believes that a person must be well physically, mentally, and spiritually to be truly well.

Dr. Brown completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1980. He earned a Master of Arts degree from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont, a B.S. degree from The University of the State of New York, Albany, New York, and an A.A. degree from Thomas A. Edison College of New Jersey.

 Bishop Everett has been a student and teacher of the Bible for many years which, in addition to much independent and supervised directed study, included Licensing School for Local Pastors and several courses from the Course of Study of The United Methodist Church. He has preached in over twenty-five different churches. He is the founder of St. John's Internet Church.
